Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie once said she was born at 7:45 in the morning, "probably the earliest I have ever gotten up." The joke aside, she is famously hard-working, and her biggest achievement may have happened largely behind the camera. In 2014 she co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment with her future husband, Tom Ackerley, and friends. Within a decade it had produced Promising Young Woman, which won an Oscar for its screenplay, and Barbie, which became the highest-grossing film of 2023.

That early-morning birth, on July 2, 1990, in Dalby, Queensland, puts her Sun in Cancer in the twelfth house, together with Mercury and Jupiter in Cancer. The twelfth is the house of what happens out of view, behind the scenes and away from the spotlight. Cancer is protective and nurturing, and with Jupiter there, the house expands. Astrologers would read a Cancer cluster in the twelfth as someone who builds and shelters things quietly, and producing is exactly that kind of work.

Cancer also rises in her chart, so the same sign shapes her public manner. Cancer Ascendants tend to come across as warm and approachable, and Robbie's public persona is notably down-to-earth for a star of her size. She grew up in the Gold Coast hinterland, worked at a sandwich shop as a teenager, and moved to Melbourne to act, landing a role on the soap Neighbours in 2008.

The leap to Hollywood came with Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. She went on to play the figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, which LuckyChap produced and which brought her first Academy Award nomination, and Harley Quinn in the DC films. She was nominated again for Bombshell.

Her Moon has just entered Scorpio, in the third house. Scorpio is intense, determined and strategic, and in the third it shows in how a person talks, negotiates and makes plans. Robbie has described her approach to her career as deliberately planned, and LuckyChap was founded specifically to make more films with women at the center.

Mars sits in Aries in the ninth house, linked with ambition on a world scale. Aries is bold and competitive, and Mars there points toward large undertakings. Barbie earned well over a billion dollars at the box office and turned a doll-movie project that many had doubted into a cultural event.

Saturn, retrograde in Capricorn, falls in the sixth house of daily work, adding discipline and a capacity for long hours. Robbie produced and starred in Barbie at the same time, a workload she has spoken about candidly. The Cancer rising made her approachable. The planets in the twelfth built the company that changed her career.
