Sebastian Stan

Sebastian Stan moved countries twice before he was thirteen. Born in Constanța, on Romania's Black Sea coast, he was a small child during the 1989 revolution that overthrew Nicolae Ceaușescu. His parents split up when he was two, and at eight he moved with his mother to Vienna, where she worked as a pianist. When he was twelve, she married an American teacher and they moved to Rockland County, New York. He learned English as his third language.

He was born on August 13, 1982. He has said he believes he was born at about five in the afternoon, but without a confirmed time his rising sign and houses are uncertain. His planets, though, are expressive. His Sun is in Leo, the sign of performance and self-expression, and his Moon is in Gemini, the sign of adaptability and language. A Leo Sun with a Gemini Moon describes a born performer who can take on different voices and identities, which suits an actor who learned to fit into three countries and three languages as a child.

Mars and Jupiter are both in Scorpio. Scorpio is intense, dark and transformative, and Mars there gives energy that runs deep and sometimes hidden. Stan's breakout role was Bucky Barnes in the Marvel films, beginning with Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011, a soldier brainwashed and turned into the assassin known as the Winter Soldier. The role, a man haunted by violence and stolen memories, fits that Scorpio intensity.

Venus is at the very end of Cancer, a placement associated with sentimentality and emotional loyalty. Stan has played many characters who are damaged and tender at once.

He studied at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and spent time at Shakespeare's Globe in London. Early roles included Carter Baizen on Gossip Girl before Marvel made him a star.

Mercury in Virgo adds precision and careful preparation. Stan became known for disappearing into real people: the figure skater Tonya Harding's ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, in I, Tonya; the drummer Tommy Lee in the series Pam & Tommy; and, in 2024, a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice, which earned him an Academy Award nomination.

Uranus and Neptune in Sagittarius describe a restless, wandering identity, tied to travel and to life between cultures. Saturn and Pluto in Libra describe a serious, transformative approach to relationships and partnership.

In 2024 he also starred in A Different Man, playing a man with a facial disfigurement who undergoes an experimental treatment, a role that won him a Golden Globe. In 2025 he returned as Bucky Barnes in Thunderbolts. The Leo Sun gave him the stage; the Gemini Moon gave him the ability to become almost anyone on it.
