Jennifer Lawrence

When Jennifer Lawrence's name was read out for Best Actress at the 2013 Academy Awards, she stood up, walked to the stage and tripped on the stairs in a voluminous gown. She got up, laughed, told the standing audience they were only standing because she fell, and accepted the Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook at 22. The moment made her even more popular, because it was so obviously unrehearsed.

Candor has been her calling card from the start, and her chart leans that way. Lawrence was born at 3:20 p.m. on August 15, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky, a time from her birth record, and Sagittarius is rising. Sagittarius is the sign astrologers associate with frankness, humor and saying what one thinks, sometimes before thinking it. As a first impression it reads as open, funny and slightly unfiltered, which is close to the public Lawrence of countless interviews.

Her Sun is in Leo in the ninth house. Leo is warm, theatrical and made for an audience; the ninth house governs wide horizons, travel and big stages. A Leo Sun in the ninth points to ambitions that reach well beyond home, and Lawrence left Kentucky early. She was spotted by a talent scout at 14 on a spring-break trip to New York, persuaded her parents to let her try acting, and soon had a role on The Bill Engvall Show.

The breakthrough was Winter's Bone in 2010, in which she played a teenager in the Ozarks searching for her father, and which earned her a first Oscar nomination. Within two years she was Mystique in the X-Men films and Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, which made her one of the most bankable stars in the world before she was old enough to rent a car.

Her Moon is in Gemini in the seventh house, home to partners and one-on-one exchange. Gemini Moons are quick, curious and restless, and in the seventh they light up in conversation with others. It fits the banter that made her an awards-season favorite, and her long creative partnership with the director David O. Russell, for whom she made Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and Joy.

Mercury in Virgo in the tenth house, concerned with public life, adds a sharp, precise tongue to her public persona. Virgo Mercury notices everything and tends to say so. Over the years Lawrence has used that voice for things beyond film, including speaking out about pay inequality in Hollywood.

In 2018 she co-founded the production company Excellent Cadaver, which has produced films including Causeway, in which she gave one of her most restrained performances, and the comedy No Hard Feelings. The girl who tripped on the Oscar stairs had become one of the people deciding which stories get told, and she still answers questions like she has nothing to lose.
