Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's mother, Charmaine Gilgeous, ran the 400 meters for Antigua and Barbuda at the 1988 Olympics. Her son inherited her athleticism and her composure. In June 2025, he led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the NBA championship, winning the Finals Most Valuable Player award only weeks after being named the league's regular-season MVP.

He was born on July 12, 1998, in Toronto, and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. No birth time has been recorded publicly, so his Ascendant and houses cannot be determined, but his planets describe him well. His Sun is in Cancer, with Mars also in Cancer. Cancer is calm, protective and inward, and Mars in Cancer works patiently and defensively rather than aggressively. Gilgeous-Alexander is famous for his composure: he plays at his own pace, almost never looks rushed, and wears defenders down with patience, deception and footwork rather than raw speed.

Mercury in Leo gives flair, confidence and a love of self-expression. Gilgeous-Alexander is known as one of the most stylish players in the NBA, arriving at games in elaborate, carefully chosen outfits that have made him a fashion figure.

Venus in Gemini adds charm and lightness, and he is known for an easy, good-humored public manner. His cousin, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, also plays in the NBA, and the two grew up playing together.

He moved to the United States for high school, attending Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and played one season at the University of Kentucky. In 2018 he was drafted eleventh overall and traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, and a year later he was traded to Oklahoma City as part of the deal that sent Paul George to Los Angeles.

Saturn in early Taurus describes slow, steady building and stubborn persistence. Oklahoma City was rebuilding when he arrived, and he developed gradually, improving every season, until he became the league's scoring leader and the leader of one of the youngest champions in NBA history.

Jupiter in late Pisces describes generosity and a quiet, intuitive approach. Uranus and Neptune, in Aquarius, and Pluto in Sagittarius belong to his generation but suit a player who reinvented the idea of a modern superstar through subtlety rather than force.

He married Hailey Summers in 2024, and their son, Ares, was born in 2025. He has also represented Canada internationally, helping the team win a bronze medal at the 2023 Basketball World Cup. The Cancer Sun gave him his calm; the Taurus Saturn gave him the patience to wait for everything else.
