Sha'Carri Richardson

In June 2021, Sha'Carri Richardson won the 100 meters at the U.S. Olympic trials and ran into the stands to hug her grandmother. Weeks later, she tested positive for marijuana. She explained that she had used it after learning, from a reporter during an interview, that her biological mother had died. She was suspended for a month and missed the Tokyo Olympics. Two years later, at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, she won the 100 meters in a championship-record time.

She was born on March 25, 2000, in Dallas, Texas, and was raised largely by her grandmother and her aunt. Without a recorded birth time, her Ascendant is unknown, but her planets suit a sprinter strikingly well. Her Sun is in early Aries, the first sign of the zodiac and the sign of speed, explosiveness and competitive fire. Aries is associated with the quick start, the burst off the blocks, and few signs could better describe a 100-meter sprinter.

Her Moon is in Sagittarius, describing a free-spirited, outspoken emotional nature. Sagittarius dislikes restrictions and speaks its mind, and Richardson has been famously direct, both on the track and in interviews, with her signature line after her return: "I'm not back. I'm better."

Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are all in Taurus, describing power, endurance and stubborn determination. Taurus is physical and strong, and Saturn there adds discipline. Richardson has spoken about the hard work of rebuilding after her suspension and about learning patience.

Mercury and Venus, both in Pisces, describe an artistic, emotional and expressive side. Richardson is known for her style on the track, including long, decorated nails and brightly colored hair, which she treats as part of her self-expression.

At Louisiana State University she ran the 100 meters in 10.75 seconds in 2019, a collegiate record, before turning professional. Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius, belonging to her generation, describe an independent, unconventional public persona.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics she won a silver medal in the 100 meters and a gold medal as the anchor of the United States 4×100-meter relay team.

Pluto in Sagittarius adds intensity and a drive toward personal transformation. Richardson has spoken openly about grief, mental health and the pressure of representing herself in a sport that often expects athletes to stay quiet. Her sprinting style is built on a fast start and raw acceleration, and she has said that running is the place where she feels most like herself. Fans embraced her as much for her candor as for her speed, and her comeback story, from suspension to world champion, became one of the most celebrated in recent track and field. The Aries Sun gave her the speed off the line; the Taurus planets gave her the strength to come back.
