Jaylen Brown

When Jaylen Brown chose a college, he picked the University of California, Berkeley, partly for its academics. As a freshman basketball star, he took a graduate-level course, studied Spanish, played chess and read widely, and he arrived in the NBA in 2016 with a reputation as an unusually intellectual athlete. Eight years later he was the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals.

He was born on October 24, 1996, in Marietta, Georgia. His birth time is not on record, so his Ascendant cannot be determined, but his planets describe him well. His Sun had just entered Scorpio, the sign of intensity, depth and determination. Scorpio is private and strategic, and it does not reveal everything at once. Brown is known for a guarded, serious demeanor and for an intensity on the court that sometimes boils over.

Mercury in late Libra gives a mind concerned with fairness, balance and justice. Brown became one of the most outspoken players of his generation on social issues. In 2020 he drove fifteen hours from Boston to Atlanta to lead a peaceful protest after the murder of George Floyd, and he has been active in the players' union, becoming a vice president of the National Basketball Players Association at twenty-two.

Mars at the end of Leo brings confidence, pride and explosive physical energy. Leo belongs to the competitor who wants to win on the biggest stage. Brown plays with a powerful, attacking style, driving to the basket with force.

Venus in Virgo adds discipline and a careful, analytical approach. Brown is known for studying the game closely and for his commitment to education off the court. He founded the 7uice Foundation and helped create a program linking young people from underserved communities with mentors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has been a visiting fellow.

Jupiter and Neptune, both in Capricorn, describe ambition on a large scale and a long view of success. In 2023 Brown signed a five-year contract extension with the Boston Celtics worth up to around three hundred million dollars, at the time the richest in NBA history.

Saturn, retrograde in early Aries, suggests hard lessons around competition and assertiveness, and Uranus, at the very start of Aquarius, adds independence and a willingness to break from convention. In 2024, when he was left off the U.S. Olympic team, he openly questioned whether his criticism of Nike had played a role. He later left Nike and launched his own athletic brand, Perform Freely.

Pluto, in the first degree of Sagittarius, describes a life shaped by beliefs and principles. In June 2024 Brown led the Celtics to the NBA championship and was named Finals MVP. The Scorpio Sun gave him intensity; the Libra Mercury gave him a voice for fairness.
