PewDiePie

In 2010, Felix Kjellberg dropped out of an industrial economics program at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, to make YouTube videos of himself playing video games. His parents disapproved. To pay for equipment, he sold hot dogs. His videos of horror games such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent, featuring exaggerated screams and running jokes, found a huge young audience, and by 2013 PewDiePie was the most-subscribed individual creator on the platform, a title he held for years.

He was born on October 24, 1989, in Gothenburg. Nobody has shared the hour he was born, so his chart has no Ascendant, but his planets are telling. His Sun had only just entered Scorpio. Scorpio is drawn to darkness, horror and taboo, and it is fitting that a creator who built his early fame on screaming through horror games has a Scorpio Sun. Scorpio also describes someone intensely private, and Kjellberg has said that fame on the scale he reached felt overwhelming.

Mercury and Mars, both in Libra, describe a sharp, social mind and a love of banter and debate. Libra likes to engage an audience, and Kjellberg's long, conversational videos made his viewers feel like friends.

Venus in Sagittarius adds humor, irreverence and a love of freedom. His comedy was often deliberately offensive and edgy, which drew huge audiences and repeated controversies.

Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, all in Capricorn, a rare grouping that belongs to people born around 1989, describe a generation that grew up as the internet arrived and turned it into careers. Saturn in Capricorn adds discipline, and Kjellberg uploaded videos almost daily for years.

His career had serious controversies. In 2017 reports about antisemitic jokes in his videos led Disney's Maker Studios to cut ties with him, and later that year he used a racial slur during a livestream. He apologized for both. In 2018 and 2019 his fans waged a public campaign to keep him ahead of the Indian music label T-Series in total subscribers, a contest that drew global attention before T-Series overtook him.

Jupiter in Cancer describes growth through home and family. In 2019 he married the Italian creator Marzia Bisognin, whom he had dated since 2011. In 2022 the couple moved to Japan, and in 2023 their son, Björn, was born. Kjellberg has since posted far less, focusing on life in Japan and on hobbies.

Pluto, also in Scorpio, deepens that intensity. The Scorpio Sun made him a creature of the dark and dramatic; the Capricorn planets gave him the discipline to post every day until he had built an empire.
