Arthur Miller

Arthur Miller wrote about moral complicity and the American conscience with a precision that came from somewhere specifically his, and his chart explains the specific combination. A Libra Sun in the 9th house places the identity in the intersection of justice and philosophy — the sense that fairness is not a social nicety but a metaphysical requirement, that the failure to act on what you know is right is the central human tragedy. All My Sons and The Crucible are Libra Sun in the 9th fully expressed.

A Capricorn rising is the exterior — the serious, authoritative, somewhat stern public face that belied the Libra Sun's genuine hunger for beauty and balance underneath. The Ascendant shapes the first impression, and Capricorn rising's first impression is gravity. People took Miller seriously before they finished the sentence.

An Aquarius Moon in the 2nd house is the emotional life organized around values and independence — the specific kind of Aquarius detachment that allows a writer to see human weakness clearly enough to dramatize it without losing compassion for the people doing the failing. The Moon here needs intellectual freedom and finds security in having something worth believing.

Scorpio Mercury and Venus in the 10th house are the source of the depth — the mind that goes beneath the surface of the story to find what's actually true, and the aesthetic that is drawn to darkness not for its own sake but because darkness is where the important things are hidden. Leo Mars in the 7th channeled the drive through partnership and the dynamics of close relationship — the marriages, the collaborations, the specific friction of being in a room with people whose choices matter.
