In 2019, the master recordings of Taylor Swift's first six albums were sold as part of a deal involving the music manager Scooter Braun, without her being given the chance to buy them. Swift responded by re-recording those albums herself, releasing them as "Taylor's Version" so that fans could choose recordings she owned. The project was a commercial triumph, and in May 2025 she finally bought back the original masters.
