LeBron James

In July 2018, LeBron James opened a public elementary school in Akron, Ohio. The I Promise School was built with the city's school district for children who were falling behind, and every student who graduates is promised free tuition at the University of Akron. It was a homecoming of a particular kind, a man who grew up moving from apartment to apartment in the same city building something meant to stay put.

He was born at 4:04 p.m. on December 30, 1984, in Akron, according to his birth record, to Gloria James, who was 16. Their early years were unsettled, with frequent moves and no father in the picture. Astrologers looking at his chart would start with the Sun in Capricorn in the seventh house. Capricorn is the sign of long-range ambition, structure and responsibility; the seventh house governs partners, collaborators and opponents. A Capricorn Sun in the seventh suggests someone who measures himself against, and builds with, the people across from him, an apt description of a player whose career has been defined by teammates, rivals and franchises.

The basketball was obvious from early on. At St. Vincent-St. Mary High School he led the team to three state titles and was a national story before he could vote. In 2003 his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers took him first overall. He won two championships in Miami, then went back to Cleveland and in 2016 led the Cavaliers back from a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors to win the city's first major championship in 52 years. He won again with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, and in February 2023 he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time leading scorer.

His Moon is in Aries in the eleventh house, traditionally tied to friends, groups and community. Aries Moons are competitive and quick to act on what they feel, and in the eleventh that energy goes into the team and the circle. James has kept many of the same close friends and business partners since his Akron days, and his public causes have tended to be about community, from the school to voting drives.

Gemini rises in his chart, a sign tied to versatility and quick thinking. On the court that reads as the passer's mind, a forward who sees the whole floor. Off it, it fits a man with a media company, a production arm and an opinion on most things. Saturn sits in Scorpio in his sixth house of daily work and the body, and astrologers link that placement to endurance built through routine. Few athletes have stayed at the top of a contact sport for more than two decades.

None of this proves that the stars made a basketball player. But the chart fits the life well: a Capricorn builder defined by the people around him, an Aries Moon devoted to his team, and a sixth-house Saturn that treats longevity as a job. The school in Akron may turn out to be the most Capricorn thing he ever built.
