Lamar Jackson

When Lamar Jackson was eight years old, his father died of a heart attack on the same day that his grandmother died. His mother, Felicia Jones, raised him and his siblings in Pompano Beach, Florida, and she was also his first football coach, running drills with him in the backyard and insisting that he play quarterback. Years later, when Jackson negotiated a contract worth more than two hundred and fifty million dollars, he did it without an agent, with his mother by his side.

He was born on January 7, 1997, in Pompano Beach, Florida. Without a published hour of birth, his Ascendant is a mystery; Capricorn, however, holds his Sun, with Jupiter and Neptune also in Capricorn. Capricorn is ambitious, self-reliant and disciplined, a placement of people who build their own path. Jackson has done exactly that, representing himself in contract negotiations and repeatedly proving wrong the critics who said he should switch positions.

Mercury, retrograde in Capricorn, describes a careful, independent mind that thinks things through privately. Jackson is known for being reserved in interviews and for keeping his own counsel.

Uranus in Aquarius describes an original, unconventional talent that changes the rules. Before the 2018 draft, some scouts suggested Jackson should play wide receiver rather than quarterback. Instead he turned into one of the game's great innovators at the position, combining passing with running ability that no quarterback had matched. He has rushed for more yards than any quarterback in NFL history.

Saturn, at the very start of Aries, suggests early hardship and lessons about courage and independence, and the loss of his father as a child shaped him deeply.

He starred at the University of Louisville, where in 2016, at nineteen, he became the youngest player ever to win the Heisman Trophy. The Baltimore Ravens chose him with the last pick of the first round in 2018. In 2019, his first full season as a starter, he was the unanimous choice as the league's Most Valuable Player, only the second player ever to receive every vote. He won the award again in 2023.

Venus in Sagittarius adds warmth and a love of freedom, and Mars in Libra describes energy that works through balance and timing. Pluto in Sagittarius adds intensity to his drive.

Despite his regular-season success, Jackson has faced criticism for playoff disappointments, and he has spoken about wanting to win a Super Bowl above everything else. The Capricorn Sun made him a self-made star; the Aquarius Uranus made him a quarterback unlike any before him.
