Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid started modeling at two, when Paul Marciano of Guess spotted her and hired her for the brand's children's line. She stopped to concentrate on school, playing volleyball and riding horses competitively at Malibu High School, and returned to Guess as a teenager. By 2014 she had been named model of the year in an industry poll, and for the rest of the decade she was one of the most photographed women in fashion.

She was born Jelena Noura Hadid on April 23, 1995, in Los Angeles. The time of day she was born has not been published, so her chart has no confirmed Ascendant, but the planets offer a clear picture. Her Sun is in Taurus, with Mercury also in Taurus. Taurus is ruled by Venus and associated with beauty, sensuality and steadiness. A Taurus Sun describes someone grounded and practical, and Hadid is known in the fashion world for her calm, friendly professionalism and her easygoing manner.

Venus, just inside Aries, adds boldness, energy and a sporty, direct quality to her beauty. Hadid's look has always been athletic and approachable, the opposite of the aloof, waifish model stereotype.

Mars in Leo brings warmth, pride and a love of the spotlight. Leo craves recognition, and Hadid has enjoyed fame comfortably, appearing in music videos, on magazine covers and as a guest host of television shows. She is the eldest of three famous siblings; her sister, Bella, and brother, Anwar, also model.

Her father, Mohamed Hadid, is a Palestinian-born real estate developer, and her mother, Yolanda, is a Dutch former model who became known on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In 2013 Gigi was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, a thyroid condition, and she has spoken about it in response to online criticism of changes in her weight.

Jupiter in Sagittarius, retrograde, describes growth through travel and wider horizons, and Saturn in Pisces suggests a serious, private sensitivity. In 2020 she had a daughter, Khai, with the singer Zayn Malik, and she has worked to keep her daughter's face out of the public eye.

Uranus at the very start of Aquarius and Neptune in Capricorn describe a willingness to reinvent and to build. In 2022 she launched her own fashion brand, Guest in Residence, focused on cashmere knitwear. Pluto, in the last degree of Scorpio, adds a capacity for transformation.

Like her sister, she has spoken publicly in support of Palestinians, drawing both praise and criticism. Her relationship with the actor Bradley Cooper, which began in 2023, has been closely followed by the press. The Taurus Sun gave her steadiness; the Leo Mars made sure she was comfortable under the lights.
