Barbra Streisand

Most performers who reach Barbra Streisand's level of stardom stop at being seen. Funny Girl, on Broadway in 1964 and on film in 1968, which won her the Academy Award, established the commanding Leo presence almost immediately, and most careers would have settled there, satisfied with visibility alone. This one didn't, because the Ascendant sits conjunct Pluto in Leo, close enough to read as almost the same point in the sky, and Pluto doesn't share control once it has hold of something.

Streisand was born April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, with no birth hour on record, so the reading works from the Ascendant, Pluto, and the visible planets rather than treat the house degrees as certain. Leo wants to command the room the world sees first. Fused this closely to Pluto, that same identity refuses to stop at being watched — it wants the mechanism behind the performance too.

That's exactly what followed. Streisand wrote, directed, and produced her own major films, Yentl in 1983 and The Prince of Tides in 1991 among them, holding a level of total creative control almost no woman in the industry held at that scale during the same era. A Leo Ascendant fused this tightly to Pluto doesn't accept being the visible face of someone else's vision. It takes the vision itself.

The Sun sits in Taurus, in the 10th house of public career, adding patient, steady persistence to the underlying command, and that combination explains a recording career that became one of the best selling in history — built across decades rather than a single explosive peak, Taurus's endurance carrying the Leo and Pluto ambition well past any single project's shelf life.

The star and the person controlling the machinery behind her were never separate, and the career itself never treated them as such. A Leo Ascendant this fused to Pluto wanted to be seen and to hold the actual power at the same time, and got both, repeatedly, across six decades.
