Donald Trump

Few public figures have spent as long in front of cameras as Donald Trump. He was a fixture of New York tabloids in the 1980s, a best-selling author with The Art of the Deal in 1987, the star of the reality show The Apprentice from 2004, and then, from 2016, a president whose every statement dominated the news. On January 20, 2025, he was inaugurated for a second, nonconsecutive term as the 47th president of the United States.

He was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York. His birth certificate records 10:54 in the morning, which puts the final degree of Leo on the Ascendant and places his Sun in the tenth house, the sector of public life and status. Gemini, which revolves around words, media and constant communication, holds that Sun, with Uranus nearby in the same house. Gemini thrives on talk and on the rapid exchange of messages, and Uranus adds a disruptive, unpredictable charge. Trump's political career was built on constant communication, from rally speeches to a relentless stream of social media posts, and on breaking the conventions of political speech.

His Moon is in Sagittarius, a placement that loves big audiences, bold claims and grand gestures. A Sagittarius Moon is expansive and restless, and Trump is known for large rallies, sweeping promises and hyperbole.

Mars in Leo, sitting just behind the Leo Ascendant in the twelfth house, adds pride, showmanship and a love of command. Leo wants to be admired and to lead from the center of the stage, and Trump has always presented himself as a winner and a dealmaker, attaching his name to buildings, products and brands.

Mercury, Venus and Saturn are in Cancer, a sign concerned with family, home and loyalty. His father, Fred Trump, was a real estate developer in Queens, and Donald joined the family business after graduating from the Wharton School. His children have played prominent roles in his businesses and administrations.

Jupiter and Neptune in Libra and Pluto in Leo describe a life of large ambitions and dramatic transformations. His first presidency, from 2017 to 2021, included two impeachments by the House of Representatives, both ending in acquittal by the Senate, and his defeat in 2020 was followed by the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, by his supporters.

In May 2024 a New York jury convicted him on thirty-four felony counts of falsifying business records, making him the first former president convicted of a crime. In July 2024 he survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. That November he won the presidential election, defeating Kamala Harris.

His supporters see a fighter who speaks for them; his critics see a threat to democratic norms. The Gemini Sun made him a master of attention; the Sagittarius Moon made everything bigger.
