Theo Von

Theo Von's father was in his late sixties when Theo was born, and much of the comedian's material comes from growing up in Covington, Louisiana, the son of an old man who had lived a dozen lives and told stories about all of them. Von has spent his career turning that childhood, poor and strange and full of memorable characters, into some of the most distinctive storytelling in American comedy.

He was born Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski III on March 19, 1980, in Louisiana, at 10:40 in the evening, a time Astro-Databank rates A. His Sun is in the final degree of Pisces, with Mercury also in Pisces, both in the fourth house, which concerns home, roots and the father. Pisces is dreamy, imaginative, compassionate and drawn to the surreal, and a Pisces Sun in the fourth suggests a person whose identity is bound up with family history and the place he came from. Von's comedy is full of the swamps, trailers and eccentrics of his Louisiana youth, told with a dreamlike, wandering logic.

His Moon and Venus are both in Taurus, in his sixth house, which astrologers read for habits and routine. Taurus is earthy, slow and sensual, and in the sixth it describes someone who finds comfort in simple, grounded routines. Von's laid-back, rambling delivery feels unhurried in a way that sets him apart from more aggressive comics.

Scorpio is his rising sign, with Neptune, in Sagittarius, in the first house. Scorpio adds intensity and a taste for dark material, while Neptune gives an elusive, slightly otherworldly first impression. Von often seems to be in his own world on stage, following strange tangents that circle back to a dark punchline.

He first became known on MTV, competing on Road Rules in 2000 and then on The Challenge. He became a finalist on Last Comic Standing in 2006 and released a Netflix special, No Offense, in 2016. That same year he launched his podcast, This Past Weekend, which grew into one of the most popular comedy podcasts in the country.

Mars and Jupiter, both retrograde and in Leo and Virgo respectively, fall in his ninth house, the domain of broader beliefs, publishing and wider audiences. Retrograde planets turn energy inward, and Von's podcast has become known for long, reflective conversations about addiction, faith and his own sobriety, a subject he discusses openly.

The podcast also made him an unlikely political figure. In 2024 he interviewed Donald Trump on the podcast, reaching a young male audience that rarely watched cable news.

Saturn, retrograde in Virgo, sits in his tenth house of career and reputation, adding an unglamorous, slow-building quality to his success. Von spent years on the margins of comedy before the podcast lifted him. The Pisces Sun in the house of roots never stopped telling stories about home, and audiences finally caught up with them.
