Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum's mother, Brandy Cole, was nineteen when he was born. She raised him while finishing college and law school in St. Louis, and Tatum has often said that watching her work so hard taught him everything about discipline. His father, Justin Tatum, a former college basketball player, coached him, and his godfather, Larry Hughes, played in the NBA. By high school Tatum was one of the best young players in the country.

He was born on March 3, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri. No confirmed birth hour exists for him, which leaves the Ascendant unknown. Pisces, though, holds his Sun, with Mercury and Jupiter also in Pisces. Pisces is fluid, graceful and adaptable, and Jupiter expands those qualities. Tatum's game is built on smooth footwork, fadeaway jumpers and an ability to score from almost anywhere, with a fluid, elegant style that makes difficult shots look easy.

His Moon is in Taurus, a placement of emotional steadiness, loyalty and comfort. A Taurus Moon finds security in stable relationships and routines, and Tatum is known for his calm demeanor and his close relationship with his son, Jayson Jr., known as Deuce, who became a familiar presence courtside and at postgame press conferences.

Saturn in Aries describes hard lessons around competition and leadership, and ambitions realized only after setbacks. Tatum played one season at Duke University before the Boston Celtics drafted him third overall in 2017. He reached the conference finals early in his career but faced years of criticism for falling short in the biggest moments, including the 2022 NBA Finals, before leading Boston to the championship in 2024.

Uranus and Neptune, both in Aquarius, belong to his generation but suit a player who has adapted to a game that values versatility and three-point shooting. Pluto in Sagittarius adds a drive toward growth through challenge.

In 2024 he signed a five-year contract extension with the Celtics worth more than three hundred million dollars, one of the largest in NBA history. He has also won two Olympic gold medals with the United States, in Tokyo and in Paris.

In May 2025, during the playoffs against the New York Knicks, Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon, one of the most serious injuries a basketball player can suffer, and faced a long recovery. Saturn's lesson of patience was suddenly literal. Tatum documented parts of his rehabilitation and spoke about wanting to return stronger, saying the injury had given him time to reflect on what basketball meant to him and to spend more time with his son. Teammates and opponents alike sent messages of support, and fans in Boston rallied around him.

The Pisces planets gave him his fluid, graceful game; the Taurus Moon gave him the steadiness to keep coming back.
