Peter Dinklage

Early in his career, Peter Dinklage made a rule: he would not play leprechauns, elves or any of the novelty roles that Hollywood usually offered actors with dwarfism. He turned down work and stayed poor for years in New York, playing in a punk band and acting in small theater productions. His refusal paid off. In 2003 he starred in The Station Agent, a quiet indie film about a reclusive train enthusiast, and critics took notice.

He was born on June 11, 1969, in Morristown, New Jersey, with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism. Records do not show the hour he was born, which leaves his Ascendant and houses undetermined, but the planets are vivid. His Sun is in Gemini, with Mercury also in Gemini. Gemini is the sign of words, wit and verbal dexterity, and Mercury there sharpens it. It is a natural placement for the actor best known for Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, a character whose weapons were words: jokes, insults, arguments and speeches.

His Moon is in Taurus, with Venus and Saturn also in Taurus. A Taurus Moon is calm, steady and grounded, and Taurus is patient and enduring. Dinklage is known for a calm, private demeanor offscreen, and his career was built slowly and patiently. Saturn in Taurus describes success that takes time but lasts.

He studied drama at Bennington College in Vermont. After The Station Agent he played a furious children's book author in the comedy Elf and appeared in a range of films before being cast as Tyrion in 2011. He won four Emmy Awards for the role, more than any other actor in the supporting category, as well as a Golden Globe.

Mars, retrograde in Sagittarius, describes restless, inward-turning energy and independence. Sagittarius dislikes limits, and Dinklage has spoken about refusing to let others' expectations define what he could do.

Jupiter and Pluto in Virgo describe success through meticulous work and craft. Dinklage is known for careful preparation and for choosing roles thoughtfully, from the romantic lead in the 2021 musical Cyrano, directed by Joe Wright, to the voice of the goat professor Dr. Dillamond in Wicked.

Neptune in Scorpio, retrograde, adds depth and a feel for darkness and moral complexity. Tyrion was both a cynic and a deeply moral man, and Dinklage played both sides at once.

He married the theater director Erica Schmidt in 2005, and they have two children. A longtime vegetarian, he has campaigned for animal welfare. The Gemini Sun gave him the wit; the Taurus Moon gave him the patience to wait for roles worthy of it.
