Neymar

In August 2017, Paris Saint-Germain paid Barcelona 222 million euros to activate Neymar's release clause. Nobody had ever cost that much. The fee made him the most expensive footballer in history overnight, and it has followed him ever since, part compliment, part burden, a price tag that every later performance was measured against.

Money and value are the loudest themes in his chart. Neymar was born at 2:15 a.m. on February 5, 1992, in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, a time published from his father's account and rated highly reliable by Astro-Databank. That early-morning hour puts four bodies in Capricorn, Venus, Mars, Uranus and Neptune, in the second house, the part of the chart astrologers associate with income, possessions and self-worth. Capricorn is the sign of ambition and long-term building. Gathered in the house of money, it describes a career in which earning power and worth, in every sense, are never far from the conversation.

The football came first, and early. His father, Neymar Santos Sr., was a former professional player who coached him as a boy in São Vicente and has advised him ever since. Santos gave him his debut in March 2009, a month after he turned 17, and he spent four seasons there as the most exciting young player in Brazil before moving to Barcelona in 2013. At the Camp Nou he formed one of the most feared attacking trios of its era. With Brazil, he scored the decisive penalty in the 2016 Olympic final in Rio, delivering the country's first Olympic football gold, and in 2023 he passed Pelé to become the men's national team's all-time leading scorer.

His Sun is in Aquarius in the third house, alongside Mercury and Saturn. Aquarius favors originality and doing things its own way, and the third house governs quick movement, communication and improvisation. Astrologers would recognize the type: the player who invents something on the spot and enjoys being the one nobody can predict.

Sagittarius rises in his chart, a sign tied to exuberance, freedom and a certain showmanship. It suits the flicks, the celebrations and the sense of fun that made him a global star, and it may also help explain why the critics who wanted more discipline never quite got their wish.

The Moon sits at the start of Pisces in the fourth house, which governs home and roots. It is a sensitive, homesick kind of placement. The later chapters have been hard on him: a serious knee injury playing for Brazil in October 2023 kept him out for more than a year and cut short his time with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. In January 2025 he went back to Santos, the club where it started.

A chart cannot score goals or heal a ligament. But this one draws a recognizable outline: a gifted improviser with an enormous financial story attached, and a Pisces Moon that kept pulling him back toward home.
