Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington was born in the middle of the night on which the final episode of Roots aired on American television. Asked about it later, she was precise: she arrived at 1:44 in the morning, the next morning, on January 31, 1977, in the Bronx. It is a fitting start for an actress who would become one of the defining Black leading women in television, and who would later write a memoir about the hidden history of her own family.
