Benny Blanco

As a teenager in Reston, Virginia, Benjamin Levin made beats in his bedroom and took the train to New York to play them for anyone who would listen. At eighteen he was taken on as a protégé by the producer Dr. Luke, and under the name Benny Blanco he became one of the most successful hitmakers in pop, co-writing and producing songs including Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," Kesha's "Tik Tok," Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself."

He was born on March 8, 1988. His birth hour has not been made public, so there is no Ascendant to read, but his planets describe him unusually well. His Sun is in Pisces, the most musical and collaborative sign of the zodiac. Pisces absorbs the moods of others and dissolves boundaries, and producers with strong Pisces placements often work as invisible shapers of other people's voices. For most of his career, Blanco was exactly that: the hidden hand behind other artists' hits.

His Moon is in Scorpio, a sign of emotional intensity, privacy and depth. Behind his goofy public persona, Blanco has spoken openly about anxiety during his years of success.

Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are all in Capricorn, a striking cluster in the sign of ambition, discipline, business and long-term building. Saturn, Uranus and Neptune there belong to his generation, but Mars in Capricorn adds a personal drive that is practical and strategic. Blanco has been unusually businesslike about his career, building catalogs of hits, signing and developing young artists, and moving into his own releases with "Eastside," a 2018 collaboration with Halsey and Khalid that became a global hit.

Mercury in Aquarius gives an offbeat, playful mind, and Blanco is known for his eccentric sense of humor, his eclectic interests and his love of cooking. He published a cookbook, Open Wide, in 2024 and has hosted food-focused shows online.

Venus in early Taurus adds a love of sensual pleasure, food and comfort, which fits a man who has made cooking and eating a central part of his public identity. Taurus Venus is also loyal and steady in love.

Pluto in Scorpio, retrograde, deepens the private, intense side of the chart, and the cluster of Scorpio and Capricorn placements suggests someone more serious and determined than his clowning suggests.

In December 2024 he became engaged to the singer and actress Selena Gomez, whom he had known for years through work, and the couple married in 2025. They released a joint album, I Said I Love You First, in 2025. The Pisces Sun made him a natural collaborator; the Capricorn planets turned collaboration into an empire.
