Angel Reese

In the closing seconds of the 2023 NCAA women's basketball championship game, Angel Reese of Louisiana State University turned toward Iowa's star Caitlin Clark and made a "you can't see me" gesture, waving her hand in front of her face, the same taunt Clark had used earlier in the tournament. LSU won its first national title, Reese was named the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player, and the gesture set off a national argument about race, celebration and double standards in women's sports.

She was born on May 6, 2002, in the Baltimore area of Maryland. Her birth hour has not been made public, so the Ascendant cannot be fixed, but her planets fit her closely. Her Sun is in Taurus, a placement of physical strength, persistence and stubbornness. Taurus does not give up ground, and Reese built her game on relentless rebounding and physicality near the basket.

Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn are all in Gemini, an unusually crowded sign in her chart. Gemini is talkative, quick-witted and media-savvy. With so many planets there, Reese is as much a communicator as an athlete: outspoken in interviews, comfortable trading words with opponents and fans, and the host of her own podcast, Unapologetically Angel. Mars in Gemini fights with words as well as actions, and Saturn adds a seriousness about her public voice.

Her Moon is in Pisces, which suggests sensitivity and emotional depth beneath a confident exterior. Reese has spoken about the toll of online criticism and about how hard it can be to absorb the hostility directed at her.

Jupiter in Cancer describes growth through family. Her mother, Angel Webb Reese, played basketball, and her younger brother, Julian, also became a college player. Reese grew up playing at Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore and started her college career at the University of Maryland before transferring to LSU.

Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius, generational placements, fit an athlete who has used social media and a strong personal brand to reach far beyond basketball fans. Her nickname, the "Bayou Barbie," and her fashion sense helped make her one of the most marketable athletes of her generation.

The Chicago Sky selected her seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA draft. As a rookie she set a league record with fifteen consecutive double-doubles and was named an All-Star, and her rivalry with Clark helped bring record attention to the league. Pluto in Sagittarius adds intensity to her pursuit of growth.

The Taurus Sun made her immovable under the basket; the Gemini planets made sure everyone heard about it.
