What Is a Composite Chart and What Does It Reveal?

A composite chart is created by calculating the midpoints between two people's planetary positions and combining them into a single new chart. Unlike synastry, which overlays two charts and examines interactions, the composite chart treats the relationship itself as an entity... it describes what the relationship is and what it's here to do, rather than how two individuals affect each other.
The composite Sun describes the relationship's core identity and purpose. A composite Sun in Gemini suggests a relationship built on communication, intellectual exchange, and variety. A composite Sun in Capricorn describes a relationship with serious ambitions and a long-term building orientation.
