Pedro Alonso

Pedro Alonso played one of the most divisive characters in Money Heist. As Berlin, the elegant, cruel and terminally ill second-in-command of the robbery crew, he was arrogant, manipulative and often monstrous, and yet audiences found him so magnetic that Netflix gave him his own prequel series, Berlin, in 2023, years after the character had died in the main story.

He was born on June 21, 1971, in Vigo, in Galicia, in northwestern Spain. His birth hour has not been recorded publicly, so his Ascendant is unknown, but his planets are vivid. His Sun is in the last degree of Gemini, with Venus also in Gemini and the Moon there too. Gemini is the sign of charm, wit and verbal brilliance. A Gemini Sun, Moon and Venus describe someone who seduces through words, and Berlin's power came from his voice: elaborate speeches, cutting wit and sudden shifts between charm and menace.

Saturn, at the very beginning of Gemini, adds seriousness and control to that verbal talent. Gemini can be double-edged, and Saturn there gives an edge of coldness. Alonso played Berlin as a man who could be tender one moment and terrifying the next.

Mars in Aquarius describes an independent, unconventional drive. Aquarius resists conformity, and Alonso's path has been unusual: he trained at the Royal School of Dramatic Art in Madrid and worked for years in Galician and Spanish television before Money Heist, in series including the wine-country drama Gran Reserva.

Jupiter, retrograde in late Scorpio, describes depth, intensity and a fascination with darker themes. Berlin was a character defined by death, desire and power, and Alonso brought a theatrical intensity to him.

Uranus in Libra describes sudden changes in relationships and an interest in aesthetics, and Neptune in Sagittarius suggests a search for meaning and spiritual exploration. Alonso is also a painter and writer, and he has spoken in interviews about philosophy, spirituality and creative experimentation outside acting. Pluto in Virgo adds intensity to craft and to the drive for perfection.

La casa de papel became a global phenomenon after Netflix picked it up in 2017, and Berlin was one of its most memorable figures. In the prequel series, set before the main story, Alonso returned as a younger Berlin planning a jewel heist in Paris, and the show leaned into the character's romanticism and wit.

Alonso has described Berlin as a role that allowed him to explore beauty and cruelty at once, and he has spoken about drawing on poetry and music to build the character's sense of style. Fans responded so strongly to the character's flamboyance that Berlin became one of the most popular costumes associated with the show. The Gemini planets made him a seducer with words; the Saturn among them gave the charm its chill.
