Leah Remini

Leah Remini joined the Church of Scientology as a child, when her mother brought the family into the organization, and she spent more than thirty years as a member. In 2013 she left, publicly and loudly. She wrote a memoir, Troublemaker, in 2015 and then hosted the A&E series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, which featured former members describing abuse and harassment. The church denied the accusations and attacked her credibility, but the series won an Emmy.

She was born on June 15, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York. Her exact hour of birth is not publicly known, so her rising sign remains unknown, but her planets suit her well. Her Sun is in Gemini, with Mercury also in Gemini. Gemini is the sign of talk, wit and quick, outspoken expression. A Gemini Sun with Mercury describes a natural talker, and Remini has always been known for her fast, funny, unfiltered Brooklyn voice, both on screen and in her very public fights.

Venus and Mars are both in Cancer, the sign of family and loyalty. Venus in Cancer loves deeply and protectively, and Mars there fights hard to defend family. Remini has said that her decision to leave Scientology was driven partly by concern for her daughter, Sofia, and she has been fiercely loyal to family members who left with her.

Saturn in Taurus describes slow, stubborn persistence and the ability to endure. Remini spent years in small television roles before her breakthrough, including parts on Who's the Boss? and Saved by the Bell. In 1998 she was cast as Carrie Heffernan, the sharp-tongued wife on The King of Queens, opposite Kevin James, and the show ran for nine seasons.

Jupiter, retrograde in Libra, and Uranus in Libra describe sudden changes in partnerships and a strong sense of fairness. She married the actor Angelo Pagán in 2003; they divorced in 2024.

Neptune in Scorpio, retrograde, describes a relationship with belief systems that can be deeply absorbing and later disillusioning. Neptune is the planet of faith and illusion, and Scorpio concerns power and secrets. Few placements could better fit a woman who spent most of her life inside a secretive religious organization and then devoted years to exposing it.

Pluto in Virgo adds a determination to investigate, analyze and expose. In 2023 Remini filed a lawsuit against the church, accusing it of harassment, which the church disputed.

In 2024, at fifty-four, she earned a bachelor's degree from New York University, having left school early as a teenager. The Gemini Sun gave her the voice; the Cancer planets gave her the loyalty that drove her to use it.
