Emily Blunt

As a child in London, Emily Blunt stuttered so severely that she sometimes could not get through a sentence. When she was about twelve, a teacher suggested she try a part in the school play using a different voice. Speaking in a character's accent, she found she could speak fluently. She has said the stutter shaped her as an actor, and she sits on the board of the American Institute for Stuttering.

She was born on February 23, 1983, in London. The hour of her birth was never made public, so the chart has no Ascendant to read, but the planets are telling. Her Sun is in Pisces, with Mars at the very end of Pisces. Pisces is empathetic, imaginative and able to become other people, the chameleon of the zodiac. A Pisces Sun with Mars describes someone whose drive is expressed through transformation, and Blunt has moved between comedy, action, drama and musicals with unusual ease.

Her Moon is in Cancer, a sign of emotional sensitivity and attachment to home and family. A Cancer Moon finds security in the people closest to it. Blunt married the actor and director John Krasinski in 2010, and they have two daughters. Their most famous collaboration, the 2018 horror film A Quiet Place, which Krasinski directed, is about parents protecting their children in a world where any sound can kill them.

Mercury in Aquarius gives an original, slightly offbeat way of speaking and thinking, and Blunt's dry, quick wit has made her a memorable comic presence. Venus at the very start of Aries adds boldness and directness to her charm.

She was spotted by an agent while performing in a school production at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and she made her professional stage debut in 2001 opposite Judi Dench in The Royal Family. Her film breakthrough came in My Summer of Love, and then as Miranda Priestly's withering first assistant in The Devil Wears Prada in 2006, a performance that stole scenes from Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, all in Sagittarius, describe a restless appetite for adventure and a career with unexpected directions. Blunt surprised audiences by becoming an action star, training intensively for Edge of Tomorrow and Sicario, and then played Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Returns.

Saturn, retrograde in Scorpio, suggests serious, private emotional depth and a capacity for intense roles. In 2023 she played Kitty Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, earning an Academy Award nomination, and in 2025 she starred opposite Dwayne Johnson in The Smashing Machine.

Pluto, retrograde in the very last degree of Libra, adds intensity to her partnerships. The Pisces Sun gave her the ability to become someone else, and that ability, discovered through a stutter, became her career.
