Your birth chart is fixed from the moment of your birth. The positions of the planets don't change, the houses don't shift, and the aspects remain constant. But your experience of your chart changes dramatically over the course of your life... because you change, and because different parts of your chart become more or less accessible as you mature.
In early life, the Moon tends to dominate. Children live close to their emotional needs, instincts, and comfort patterns... all Moon territory. The Rising sign is also active early... it's the personality that forms first, the social mask you develop to navigate the world. The Sun is often the last of the Big Three to fully develop, because it represents the person you're growing into rather than who you already are instinctively.
The Saturn return around 29 is often the first time people begin to consciously engage with their chart's more challenging placements. Before then, difficult aspects may feel like things that simply happen to you. After the Saturn return, there's usually more capacity to recognize the pattern and choose how to respond to it. Astrology starts to feel like a description rather than a mystery at this point.

At 20, you may read your chart and think "some of this is me." At 50, you may read the same chart and think "this is exactly me"... not because the astrology became more accurate, but because you became more fully yourself. The chart was always there. It just took time to grow into it.
